Monica Maria Iacob Ridzi (ur. 30 czerwca1977 w Petroszanach) – rumuńska polityk, prawnik, parlamentarzystka krajowa i europejska.

Życiorys

W 2000 ukończyła studia z zakresu ekonomii na Uniwersytecie w Petroszanach. W 2003 uzyskała licencjat z zakresu prawa na Uniwersytecie 1 grudnia 1918 w Alba Iulia. W 2007 została doktorem nauk technicznych na pierwszej z tych uczelni. Od połowy lat 90. pracowała jako księgowa, dyrektor i menedżer w prywatnym przedsiębiorstwie.

W 1997 wstąpiła do Partii Demokratycznej (przemianowanej później na Partię Demokratyczno-Liberalną). Obejmowała szereg stanowisk w strukturach tego ugrupowania, w 2008 został przewodniczącą organizacji młodzieżowej demokratów. W 2004 została wybrana z ramienia PD do Izby Deputowanych.

Od stycznia do grudnia 2007 sprawowała mandat posłanki do Parlamentu Europejskiego w ramach rumuńskiej delegacji (uprzednio od 2005 była obserwatorem w PE). Utrzymała go w powszechnych wyborach z 2007, rezygnując z zasiadania w parlamencie krajowym. Była członkinią grupy chadeckiej oraz K

Monica Iacob Ridzi is a prominent Romanian politician who has made significant contributions to the country's political landscape. Monica Maria Iacob Ridzi (born 30 June 1977 in Petroșani) is a Romanian politician. She was the head of the youth wing of the Democratic Liberal Party,[1] and a representative in the Chamber of Deputies of Romania since 2008. She is a former member of the Boc cabinet, and was a Member of the European Parliament during 2007–2008.

In February 2015, she received a 5-year prison sentence for abuse of office in relation to the 2009 Youth Day.[2] On December 3, 2015, President Klaus Iohannis rejected Ridzi's pardon plea.[3] In December 2017, she was released from prison, after spending nearly three years incarcerated.[4]

Political career

She became an MEP on 1 January 2007 with the accession of Romania to the European Union, and like other members of the Democratic Liberal Party she was part of the European People's Party–European Democrats.
