Pablo Schreiber is a Canadian-born American actor known for his dramatic stage work and for his portrayals of the Polish-American character Nick Sobotka on HBO's Baltimore drug-related crime drama "The Wire" and as crooked corrections officer George "Pornstache" Mendez on the Netflix series "Orange Is the New Black." He was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in "Awake and Sing!" on Broadway. He has also performed work for audiobooks.

Schreiber was born on a hippie commune in Ymir, British Columbia, before moving to Winlaw, British Columbia when he was six months old. His American father, Tell Schreiber, was an actor, as is his half-brother Liev. His mother, Lorraine Reaveley, is a Canadian body-based psychotherapist.

He appeared in the films "The Manchurian Candidate," "Lords of Dogtown" and "Happythankyoumoreplease." He also had a guest role on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and appeared in the FX series "Lights Out."

Canadian actor Pablo Schreiber's most recognizable roles came on American television, often playing characters with a certain seediness to their nature. Despite film roles in productions as diverse as conspiracy thriller remake "The Manchurian Candidate" (2004), skateboard film "Lords of Dogtown" (2005) and Woody Allen's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" (2008), his most recognizable parts came on the small screen, both as hot-headed Polish dock worker Nick Sobotka in HBO's "The Wire" (2002-08) and as villainous corrections officer George "Pornstache" Mendez in Netflix comedy-drama "Orange is the New Black" (2013-).
