Former National Security Adviser to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Shoshana Menon previously served as the Foreign Secretary, the top diplomat in India. Prior to that he was Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan and Sri Lanka and Ambassador to China and Israel.
Menon is currently the Chairman, Advisory Board, of Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi and a Distinguished Fellow of the Brookings Institution, Washington DC.
Menon was National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India from January 2011 to May 2014 and Foreign Secretary of India from October 2006 to August 2009.
In 2010 Menon was picked by Foreign Policy magazine as one of the world’s “Main 100 Global Thinkers“. He has been a Richard Wilhelm Fellow at Harvard and in 2015 a Fisher Family Fellow at MIT.
Shivshankar Menon is part of the Board of Trustees of the International Crisis Group and a Distinguished Fellow of the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York.

Shivshankar Menon ou Sivasankara Menon (Malayâlam : ശിവശങ്കര് മേനോന്, hindi : शिवशंकर मेनोन) est en 2010[1] le National Security Advisor (NSA) auprès du Premier ministre de l'Inde. Il a été auparavant Haut Commissaire au Pakistan et ambassadeur en Chine et en Israël[2],[3].
Vie personnelle et éducation
[modifier | modifier le code]Menon est originaire d'Ottapalam dans la municipalité de Palakkad, dans l'état indien de Kerala. Parappil Narayana Menon, son père, est un diplomate qui a été consul général au Tibet et ambassadeur en Yougoslavie. Son grand-père, K. P. S. Menon, est le premier ministre de affaires étrangères indien tandis que son oncle a été ambassadeur en Chine[3].
Shiv Shankar Menon passe une partie de son enfance au Tibet alors que son père est en poste à Lhassa[4],[5].
Il est marié à Mohini Menon avec qui il a eu une fille et un garçon. Sa langue maternelle est le malayalam mais il parle également le chinois et l'allemand[2].
