I always did it my way

I am born on October 31, 1929 in Naples. Just one year after my enrollment in school in 1936 I make my first swimming attempts and join a swimming club. In 1940 my family (since 1934 it also includes my sister, Vera) moves to Rome because a bombardment in Naples has totally destroyed the important factory that an ancestor, Alessandro Pedersoli founded in the XIX century. Thanks to the presence of the Pope in the Vatican, Rome is a much safer town and I can attend high school that I complete in 1946 with an above average graduation. My school rugby team becomes national champion and I am already a sport star also as a swimmer after defeating all my senior competitors when I was only 15 years old.
In 1946 I pass the entrance exam to the University of Rome and begin to study chemistry as one of the youngest university students in Italy. But the post war time is really hard and shortly thereafter, my family moves again, this time to Brazil. I learn Portugese and work, among other things, as assembly line worker in Rio de Janeiro. Carlo Pedersoli was born in Santa Lucia but later became known as Bud Spencer, a stage name by which he became well known in Italian film, mostly know in “Italian Westerns.” As a swimmer he won a silver medal at the 1951 Mediterranean Games and won the 1954 Italian title in water polo with SS Lazio. His first movie role came in 1951 but he considered himself minor league until the late 1960s. Prior to that time he earned a degree in law, registered several patents, and became a commercial airline and helicopter pilot.

In the 1970s and 80s Spencer appeared in multiple Italian films mostly with his extremely blue-eyed compatriot Terence Hill (alias Mario Girotti). He also served as a producer and director later in his career. In 1984 he established Mistral Air, an air-mail company that transported pilgrims, but he later sold the company. In 2005 he entered politics with little success, but he did serve for a few years at the Italian Embassy in Brazil.

Bud Spencer - bestselling author

Since the publication of his first book in 2010, Bud became successful as an author.

On May 27, 2010 Bud Spencer starts a new career as a book writer with the publishing of his own autobiography “Altrimenti mi arrabbio”. The same year on november 25 the book is published in Hungary, in 2012 also in Germany by Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf achieving a great success. In 2012, the second book titled “In Eighty years around the world - The second part of my autobiography” appears on March 15. In October 2014 Bud celebrates his 85th birthday and his third book is also published. The third book’s title is “Mangio Ergo Sum - My philosophy of eating”. In this book he describes the nightmare he suffers during a prescribed diet and discusses his philosophical dilemmas with various philosophers from all ages.
Now that his body is getting older and doesn’t obey anymore to his 28 years old mind, Bud goes back to his love for philosophy and he’s already working with friend and co-author Lorenzo De Luca for a fourth book, an tribute to the millions
