Daddy Yankee is the stage name of Ramón Luis Ayala Rodrguez, a Puerto Rican singer, composer, and rapper. Music reviewers and fans alike refer to him as the "King of Reggaetón." In 1994, Daddy Yankee invented the phrase "reggaeton" to characterise a new music genre developing from Puerto Rico that combined hip-hop, Latin Caribbean music, and reggae beats with Spanish rapping and singing. Other Latin urban performers frequently credit him as an influence.
