I passed out from fatigue – Amandzeba explains cause of accident

Veteran musician, Amandzeba has revealed that passing out from fatigue may have been the cause of his accident on January 5.

According to the ‘Wogbe jeke’ singer he had not had enough sleep on the day and it took a toll on him.

“I think that I must have passed out. It was fatigue...it’s taking a toll on me,” he explained at a press conference on Friday.

Amandzeba stated that he was on his way to the studio to work ahead of his 20 years anniversary celebrations which is taking place in partnership with US-based Jah Mikal Entertainment.

“Since Michael [of Jah Mikal Ent.] came to town, none of us has slept enough so I guess it was part of it. In fact that day, he advised that I didn’t drive,” he added.

Amandzeba Nat Brew escaped unhurt after he was involved in a car crash in front of the Joy FM building on January 5.

There was no casualty as the Dede singer was saved by his airbag which blew up in time to prevent him from hitting his head on the steering wheel.

Amandzeba is certainly a great highlife artiste; his contribution to the highlife industry will for long be indispensable. The uniqueness of his music has won him a number of awards, including the ultimate prize at the 7th International Alphine festival held in Saas-Fee, a tourist village in Switzerland. He became known as part of a popular band Nakorex, which was formed in 1992 with Akosua Agyapong and Rex Omar. A leading member of the group, he became famous through “Wogbejeke”, a track which was released in 2000 and created waves in several parts of the world.

Following the success of “Wogbejeke”, he adopted the name Amandzeba, meaning "Tradition Child" or "Custom Child", to reflect his African roots. In January 2020, he signed with US label Jah Mikal Entertainment and announced the release of a new album and a collaboration with the US rapper, Michael Morgan, to create a remix of “Wogbejeke”.

Veteran highlife musician Nat Brew, known in the music scene as Amandzeba, has officially signed on to US-based entertainment company, Jah Mikal Entertainment.

The highlife musician, who has had an impact on the music circles, revealed this at a press conference held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

The partnership with the US record label would see Amandzeba release the remix of his ‘Wogbe Jeke’ song with an American rapper, Michael Morgan.

Addressing the media, the highlife musicians hinted that his latest album which features some top-notch local and international artistes would be released in August this year.

He revealed that this year marks exactly 20 years since the release of the ‘Wogbe Jeke’ song.

According to him, after the release of his latest album on the Jah Mikal Entertainment label, he would embark and on a nationwide tour to mark 30years in the Ghanaian music industry later.
