Life of Daniel Boone, the great western hunter and pioneer
As to the writing, perhaps it should only be preserved as an example of terrible scholarship. It is a collection of anecdotes, many which seem to be drawn from other sources without much reference to where they came from. The e-pub does footnote a considerable number of references and lengthy quotes. It would be called a "cut and paste" piece today. Some passages seem to have propaganda purposes which are not consistent throughout the work--such as strong anti-British sentences about corruption and anti-Episcopalian sentiments in one section which are not reflected throughout the book which led me to believe that they came from a particular source.
I got curious about the author, but found that even Wikipedia has no entry about Cecil B. Hartley, though it does have reference to this work in the article about Boone
