A biography of the man behind the MG.
M.G., the world’s most-loved make of sports car, was created in the 1920s by Cecil Kimber—invariably known as Kim. Rising above disability, with his energy, enthusiasm, and vision Kimber became a leading figure in the British motor industry.
Initially placing sporty bodies on Morris chassis, within a few years he had built M.G. into the leading European manufacturer of sports cars, with an impressive record of competition successes. He survived industrial upheaval only to fall victim to the venomous internal politics of M.G.’s parent company. Sacked from his high-profile job, he was preparing to bounce back when he lost his life in a needless accident.
Respected businessman, wayward husband, and fallible parent—Kimber was a man of surprising contrasts. Here for the first time is the colorful story of the man behind those famous initials.

Kimber Manufacturing
American firearms manufacturer
Kimber Manufacturing is an American company that designs, manufactures, and distributes small arms such as M1911 pistols, Solo pistols, rifles, and revolvers. The USA Shooting Team, Marines assigned to Special Operations Command, and the LAPDSWAT team[1] have used Kimber pistols in the past.
History
Kimber was founded as "Kimber of Oregon" in 1979 by Jack Warne and his son Greg Warne in the small town of Clackamas, Oregon. An Australian, Jack Warne founded the Australian firearms manufacturer, Sporting Arms or Sportco, in Adelaide, South Australia, following World War II.
Following its founding, Kimber of Oregon quickly built a reputation for accurate .22 long rifle caliber rifles. Subsequently, it began to expand its product line and eventually acquired a second manufacturing plant in nearby Colton. Jack Warne acquired the Brownell quick-detachable rifle scope mounting system for Kimber.
In the late 1980s, the company began to struggle after a private stock offering fell short of covering the costs

Kimber | About
Kimber Classic Firearms
Kimber was founded with the singular purpose of building fine sporting firearms, better even than classics from the golden age of American gunmaking. Modern manufacturing techniques would be embraced and used to advantage, but assembly, fit and finish could only depend on practiced hands. There would be no compromise in features, materials or performance.
Rimfire rifles led the way, followed by centerfire rifles, then pistols and finally revolvers. Shooters and hunters were attracted by classic lines, dependability and accuracy. In turn, demand fueled growth and encouraged continual product improvement. Today more than ever, the reputation of the Kimber brand reflects the original purpose—and Kimber is known as America’s leading manufacturer of premium production firearms.
Quality Without Compromise
Kimber measures success by product quality and customer satisfaction—not sales volume or market share. After all, if you trust a Kimber for protection, carry one hunting or shoot one in competition, quality is everythi
